How world war 1 Started
WWI started because of M.A.I.N. (Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism, Nationalism).
- Militarism is when a country focuses on strengthening their army during a time of peace, which causes other countries to become paranoid and do the same, which then causes the chaos and everything goes awry.
- Alliances are agreements between countries to defend each other in case of attack, for example Great Britain, France, and the United States. If one country is left out, they will get mad and form an opposite alliance to fight them.
- Imperialism is when a country tries to spread their power by taking over foreign places. An example is France trying to take over Morocco.
- Nationalism is when citizens of a country have EXTREME pride in their own country. This can often lead to rivalries and get countries mad at each other.
Many things contributed to the start of WWI, but these were by far the things that contributed the most. If some of these had not been created or acted upon, maybe the war wouldn't have started.
